I would love to give zero stars here... Not only was there a hair in my steak but the service was awful!!! Plenty better spots in West Des Moines to eat...

The food here is awesome! A little $$$ but so worth in. Staff was excellent. The bar is a great place to meet and drink.

Had our office holiday party there tonight. Food and service was excellent. We went to the main bar and ordered a couple of drinks. About an hour later, went back to order a couple more and the bartender remembered our drink order?

This place shouldn't make food. The soup had a block of salt In it. The drinks didnt taste right...

So the waitstaff are very nice and did an amazing job to accommodate us while we were there. I had steak and garlic potatoes which was good. We had the zucchini fries which was very good as well. My wife had the chicken prosciutto which was a bit pink and a bit red in spots. Picked that out but seem to be more bone bits in the pasta. The place looked nice but Batman would feel at home as dark as it was. All in all food is decent, wait staff 10/10, and decor 8/10.

The lobster bisque had an oil streak worse than the BP incident. I couldn't say anything bad about the prime rib because the amount of unidentified hard objects broke my jaw and I can't speak. Spent 100 dollars on a meal with my wife and it would be a stretch to say we ate 25% of our food. Plus my "mash" was slimey... Talked with the waitress and apparently there wasn't anything they could do. Gave 1 star because I tried to drink enough wine to forget the incident and it was decent.

Okay good, but really not worth the price

We had Johnnys cater our wedding at the Teachout in the East village and it was absolutely PERFECT! Gina was extremely friendly and accommodating in helping us plan! The day of staff was beyond professional and lovely! We couldn’t have asked for a better experience! THANK YOU!!!

Loved this place, the food was great and the bar has great employees , my server was Rico and he was great, very professional and knew his products. If you ever stay at the Holiday Inn & Suites this restaurant Johnny's Italian steakhouse is located there and their food is great.

Attended a wedding on Saturday. Completely blown away by this venue! Casey and the staff were extremely helpful. The food was okay, steak was tough and overcooked. My husband had a Chicken dish which was good. The rest of the night was just a delight! They even cleaned everything up, and helped me find all of our boxes. I will most certainly recommend this venue to others! Thanks for a wonderful evening!

Had a wonderful dinner there a few weeks ago. I had a steak and my wife had some delicious salmon. Nice atmosphere for a quiet dinner.

Great for a date night! All of the steak toppings are delicious and the bruschetta is one of our favorites. We try to go here before the movies when we can - the risotto is not for me (I like mine more on the cheesy side) but I recently tried the skillet potatoes and that hit the spot as far as cheesiness goes.

This was our first experience at Johnny's and our waiter, Sean, was attentive, informative and extremely helpful. The food was truly amazing and my companion was truly beyond words!

Fine but wouldn't return. We had a reservation that the restaurant managed to misplace, which was a damper on our evening out. Miscommunication happens, but it still made our entire experience less enjoyable.The cocktail menu was the best part, as we enjoyed good drinks while waiting for service and our dinners. The bartenders were the most friendly part of the staff and were quite busy.For the cost of the meal and the overall experience we had, we wouldn't choose to go there again. At around $100 per couple to have dinner/drinks, we have other favorite restaurants in the area where the service and menu is excellent.

Great place to eat and have a cocktail our service was great and food was great. The only downside was some arrogant management person rudely degrading his staff team in front of guest. They do make back rooms for that... 5 stars because the service and food was spot on. Management would get a 1 star.

This is my first dinner at Johnny's that wasn't 5 star. I ordered the chicken pasta. Maybe it's just me, but I don't like bones or chicken skin in my salad or in my pasta. I waitress told me it was served French style. Well, I prefer it American style--without bones or chicken skin. The chicken that didn't have skin had been cooked excessively and was extremely tough. My husband tasted it and spit it out. My first truly bad meal at Johnny's.

Food was a little blah...steaks overcooked and tough. Decent service though.

Good for eating in the restaurant with a small group, but not a great large group banquet option. Steak, small potatoes and mashed potatoes as a main dish was interesting. No veggie.

Amazing dinner!!! I had the lobster dinner and my boyfriend had the 16 oz prime rib dinner. Both were simply full of flavor and just perfect. Our new spot for a nice and tasty dinner!!!!! Our waitress was super nice and the low light dining experience just made us feel super comfy.

We found chunks of sediment in our wine and the manager told us, "there is sediment in all their wines..." and walked away??? Very strange response. Check out the recent photo I added.

Until today we'd only eaten at the Johnny's near our home in south Des Moines. We met a relative at the West Des Moines location tonight and, of course, we were not disappointed! My wife had the Chicken Madeira and had nothing but accolades! I had the Prime Rib with garlic potatoes and stuffed myself. So amazingly good! The food at Johnny's will not disappoint, but not so much the service. Once our food arrived our waitress never stopped again to check on us until it was time for the bill. We ran out of drinks and would have ordered dessert had she not come back 15 minutes after we were done eating.

My husband had the Italian trio and I had a seafood pasta, really enjoyed our food. His steak was perfectly cooked and very tender. Food was served hot. Enjoyed the salad with the house honey-balsamic dressing. Kaylee the server was very cheerful and nice.

Best place for a steak and great bartenders

Atmosphere was fantastic. Pricing runs $23-$39 per menu option. I choose the Johnny Channel #5 and my family enjoyed the few bites I shared with them. I personally thought it was missing something (pepper, cumin, garlic, ??? Spice). My wife ordered the crusted New York Strip steak. The fillet was a good size, cooked to the temperature she requested. The side portion of the chedder & bacon mashed potatoes was crazy big and delicious.

Lights were very dim. It was a little cool in the restaurant. The food was excellent.

It was a nice place a little dark. Our server did great till the end. It was hard getting the check. Our food was really good. It was a little pricey but I look forward to going again. Enjoy.

This place is the best place in West Des Moines for eloquence and great food!! Very classy and not to pricey...The staff is great! The manager has his place on point!!

I had lunch at the bar. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The staff allowed me to order off dinner menu despite it being lunch time. I had the Veal Parm. It was excellent. Nothing like the north end of Boston but fine nonetheless. Given the fact I was in the middle of Iowa the food was excellent. I recommend the place.

First timers. Food was fine, though no more spectacular than similar restaurants. Overcooked asparagus...ugh. Biggest disappointment was the dessert I ordered "to go"; a raspberry-lemoncello layered cake of some sort. It was dry, stale and difficult to swallow. What a let down!!!

The food here was amazing! Our server was also very knowledgeable about both the food and the wine menu. Everyone absolutely loved their meal and the dessert they got. The atmosphere was also very nice. Even thought they were very busy the food came out in a timely manner.

Our new go to spot for celebrations. The steak was wonderfully done, the pasta was very good, and the wine list lovely! So many tempting items on the desert tray. One of the best meals I've had in DSM.

The service was great and the food was delicious! We had the streak deburgo, and I will definitely be back for more! The banana cheesecake is worth saving room for, or taking home for later!

We had an event in one of the banquet rooms and it was perfect! The atmosphere and convenience were second to none. I can't tell you how hard the servers worked and were in tune with each other. It was exemplary! Shout out to Casey, who made our night even more enjoyable!
